Payment Networks
Payment networks set rules and provide the infrastructure for issuing cards and processing card payments. To complete a payment, the card issuer and acquirer must be members of the same network. Some well-known card networks include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and UnionPay. Card organizations charge fees for processing payments, and also specify the value of interchange fees, which depends on multiple factors for each specific payment.
